Overview:
The Canadian Forces Aeromedical
Evacuation Flight
(CF AE Flt) at 8 Wing Trenton,
conducts the Critical
Care Aeromedical Evacuation
Specialist (CCAES) training
for selected CC physicians
and nurses.
The purpose of the CCAES
course is to prepare future
Medical Specialist Team
Members (MSTMs) to assist
the CF AE Flt with its many
lines of operations. The
MSTM will be employable as
an operational CCAES to
assist the AE Team in planning
Critical Care Aeromedical
Evacuation (CCAE) missions.
The CCAE MSTM will
be trained to, load/unload
AE equipment and patient(s).
They will be required to provide
in-flight critical care in
any theatre of operation from
one medical treatment facility
to another in a tactical and
strategic environment.
The CC AE Spec course (5d duration) and comprises of:
AE process and the roles of the AE Team
Stresses of Flight
Principles of Human
Performance in Military
Aviation (HPMA)
Equipment familiarization
Airframe familiarization
Biocontainment familiarization
Recommended prerequisites:
Aeromedical Evacuation
(AE) Course;
Aeromedical Training
(AMT);
Basic Aviation Medicine
(B Av Med) Course;
Advanced Trauma Life
Support (ATLS);
Human Performance in
Military Aviation
(HPMA).

Once approved, the nominations
are then inputted directly
into MITE.
Qualified CCAES Physicians
may contact 1 Cdn Fd Hosp
to have their names added to
the CCAE Duty Schedule.
CCAES Nurses may have
their names added to the CF
AE Flight CCAE Duty
